This season, it hardly feels like Christmas is coming. Each day is a more ominous prediction than the one before. With each of us fearing for our own future and well being, it’s hard to remember that this is the time to give. Whether it be the smallest, seemingly insignificant gesture, or something impacts another’s life in a momentous way, it makes a world full of uncertainty seem less scary.
Keeping the “tis better to give than receive” spirit in mind, we’ve decided to turn this year’s Christmas party into a charity event. Besides the usually flurry of shopping for a dress, hair appointments and manicures (though trust me, there is plenty of that), everyone attending our party is bringing a coat to donate to New York Cares, a charity that provides winter coats for the homeless. We’ve even organized an auction where celebrities have signed and donated coats to be sold on eBay, with all of the proceeds going to New York Cares. Please visit nycares.org for information.
