While watching all of the publicity hype for the premier of the movie, MacGruber, it seemed as if the character Vicki St. Elmo, played by Kristin Wiig, got a taste of her VERY OWN hairy situation.  She talked on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon about the hot-and-bothered sex scene her and MacGruber (played by Will Forte) had, on her birthday nonetheless.

Wiig said that there was absolutely no A/C, it was 95-degrees, on satin sheets, and both she and Forte were drenched in sweat.  To put a little cherry on top – Wiig explained that during this sex scene Forte’s chest looked like a SWEATER and it was acting like a “vessel” for the sweat to drip on her – EWWW!!!

At least Wiig and Forte have been long-time friends and they can joke about this hairy mess, literally.

Ladies – have you ever gotten into a situation like this? Have you ever said anything to your significant other??

Well, we got a question this week on our Twitter feed from one of our men followers, asking: “What’s the best way for a guy to remove all hair down there, completely?”

I’m glad you asked! When it comes to men and body hair (down there) , we’ve come a long way (no pun intended). When what I call the “waxing revolution” happened in the 90s, it was all about the Brazilian wax for women. It’s no surprise that, for men, a trip to Brazil was in the imminent future. This would be the quick solution to hair removal for men. It does have it’s drawbacks. With waxing, you’re merely renting your hair free existence. Laser is the more permanent and the most cost-effective way to go. Because several treatments are needed, the modern man can choose how bare he dares to go. Be it completely bare, or just a well tended garden, I beg all men, black, white, gay, straight, bi, or undecided to take charge of their hair removal needs. Trust me, your significant other will thank you.

Would love to hear from our men out there…

I’m trying to imagine (and not laugh out loud – ha!) right now how many at-home hair removal “oops!” like these occurred last weekend during Valentine’s Day. Ladies and gentlemen, I’m not going to lie when I say that at-home hair removal can be quite easy but let’s make sure we’re not pulling strips off in heart’s like this – ugh!

Love Gone Wrong

Here are some main tips to use when waxing at home, if you are desperate and HAVE to!

- Make sure you have all the necessities such as baby powder, tongue depressors, hard wax, strip wax, pre-cut waxing strips
- Make sure skin is exfoliated so that all hairs are totally accessible to the wax

- Be sure the area is completely dry – shake some baby powder on the area to dry up any anxiety sweat that may be there

- Check that the wax is at a honey-like consistency, if it is too thin it is too hot and vice verse if it is too thick

- Next take the tongue depressors and dip into the wax and glide this in the direction of hair growth

- Then take the strip and apply firmly and tear off quickly in the opposite way of the hair growth – the same goes for the hard wax pull off once it hardens on the area in the same direction

- Lastly, this is optional but may help, you can soothe the area with a towel dipped in milk and toss in the freezer. The cold will help soothe and chill the area from inflammation.

GOOD LUCK!

When I opened completely bare, I answered a need that plagued New Yorkers: permanent hair reduction, done in a chic setting by the experts in the industry.  I know, however, all you ladies in blog land might not be able to make it to CB to meet your hair removal needs. That’s why I’m providing some helpful tips and questions to ask when choosing an effective professional hair removal spa near you:

  1. Always ask if everyone at the spa have received treatments themselves. This includes the person that has answered the phone. You wouldn’t eat at a restaurant where the waiters haven’t tried the food.
  2. Ask how the treatment worked for them. Everyone is different and will respond to treatment differently. This may give you a good indication of how the process varies for each person.
  3. How long have they been in business, and how many locations do they have?
  4. Do they offer a complimentary test patch? You need to know how the treatment feels before you commit to it.
  5. Also ask how many laser services they perform per day. The more they do, they more experienced they are with different skin types. I like to use and example that everyone can relate to: when you get your hair done, each blow dryer is pretty much the same wherever you go. The difference is, one stylist has the talent and experience to give you a better blow out than the next.

Don’t ever feel like you’re asking too many questions. A service as personal as this is all about your comfort level.
