With four locations in New York, we do everything we can to get clients in at the last minute! If you don’t live near a Completely Bare Spa, or need another service done, what do you do when you need to get a super fast appointment?

Having first hand experience on the other end of the phone, I’m here to offer some tips to get you squeezed in when it seems all but impossible. First and most important, nothing makes us want to do more for someone who is polite, understanding and flexible. When you are calling for an hair removal or spa appointment at the last second, ask for the person’s name who answers the phone. Tell them you know how busy they must be, but you have just come back from a long extended trip. In a remote country. With no phones. And no calendars. Ask them if there is anything they can do to help you out. Be flexible with time, and with the esthetician that you see.

Tell them you’ll run in for your emergency trim already shampooed, and you’ll blow dry yourself. If they don’t have time for a full Brazilian wax, tell them you don’t mind being slotted in for whatever time they have. If at all possible, be in the neighborhood so that you can run in if they get a last minute cancellation.

If they truly are booked, break out the razor, slap some glossing creme on those split ends and some clear polish on your nails. Do not, I repeat, do NOT imply that the receptionist is lying, or purposely holding out on you. Remember: they are the ones who will call if something opens up :-)

As woman, we naturally take more time than men to get ready…between straightening and curling our luscious locks, shaving/waxing our southern areas, preventing wrinkles with skincare, applying makeup and picking out the PERFECT outfit!

Or do we…????

I know plenty of men that take their time playing with new eye and skin creams, MUST have the perfect hot shave, and change repeatedly…oh and check themselves out in the mirror 50xs while shooting the double guns in their reflection.

Much like women, men are now feeling self conscious and…shall we say, more aware of grooming and beautifying themselves.

Woman’s Brazilian waxing came as a shock to most men but now there is a HUGE request for men’s waxing down “there”.  Then there was the push up bra, those good ol’ chicken cutlets and the BEST INVENTION EVER – SPANX!! I swear by them and could promise that every single woman has worn these at least ONCE in their life.

Now…Spanx has finally released “under shirts” for men in three separate and normal styles to help fight that beer belly flab….

Now men….before you go complaining that a girl has “fake” boobs make sure that you have your shirt off and are showing off your REAL “six-pack” ha!

When completely bare first started the completely bare wax with a flair (insert obvious Office Space Jennifer Aniston reference here), it just seemed like a natural paring.  It’s the perfect pants-down surprise for that special someone.  Since J-Love has been so out spoken about her below the belt grooming habits, the “vajazzle” it seems, is everywhere.  Now, being an equal opportunity service provider, I decided the men needed a little bling for their thing.  First it was, “do men wax their bikini?”, then it was, “do they laser?”  When both answers were a resounding “YES”, the penazzle was born. Even Perez Hilton has recognized the shift in men’s grooming trends.

Did you see Jessica Simpson’s new reality show this week on VH1, The Price of Beauty? She and Ken Paves went to Brazil for a Brazilian wax. You would think this would make sense, right? But would you go to France for french fries? Believe it or not, Brazilian waxes aren’t the best in Brazil – as we saw – ouch!!

In order to find the best in the industry, join this decade and do some research – online. Check out their website, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube pages. Comment on their wall, ask them questions, and then give them a call! The receptionist should be well versed on both the technique and the products. No question is off limits. Believe me, they’ve heard it all. Ask how long they’ve been in business, what kind of sanitary precautions they use, and if you can go in for a complimentary spa consultation with a specialist. Last but not least, go in for a less invasive service, like an arm hair wax. You’ll be able to get a first hand view of how they operate without having to take your pants off.
