You discuss with your best friends about the most intimate details of your life: relationships, men, sex, grooming. However, it takes the anonymity of a seasoned specialist to make you feel truly safe enough to ask the most personal and seemingly embarrassing questions.

One common question that most women are afraid to ask is “hair or no hair”? Should I take everything off? Should I leave some hair? How much hair is too much hair? The answer is always what makes you feel the
most comfortable and what makes you feel great. For most women, the most popular bikini shape is what they call a Brazilian bikini. This shape leaves what is now infamously called the landing strip…a narrow, rectangular section of hair located right above the labia. The landing strip can be as thin or as thick as you would like. The average size is about the width of two index fingers. If a landing strip is too risqué for you, there are other options to try! Many women prefer a triangle or even a square depending on their body type.

Then you have your creative types. I’m talking lightening bolts, hearts, even initials. Then you have the women who want to 86 their hair altogether going completely bare.

With all the choices out there, how does one decide? My advice is simple: try the newest and the latest but keep in mind what looks best on you. Unlike your Hanky Panky’s, bikini shapes are not one-size-fits-all. At completely bare spa, our spa specialists will work with a client to achieve the most flattering shape.

If you cannot get to a completely bare spa, here are some tips: If you’re curvy, a triangle with soft edges will give the appearance of a slender silhouette. If you have narrow hips, an inverted triangle will give the illusion of feminine curves. Last, but definitely not least, have your specialist evenly trim your shape to the desired length.

And remember ladies, if at first you don’t succeed, try and try again. How many times do you change your hairstyle before you find the right one? Exactly.

  1. Hello,
I have a question… is it possible to have too much hair “down there” that one cannot get a bikini wax?

    Thanks,
    Eve

Hi Jenna,

For any wax, your hair should be about 1/4 of an inch long;  the perfect length to ensure that the wax has enough hair to grab securely onto, prolonging the time between waxes.

The Completely Bare wax is $82.  If you want the “relax” wax, which includes a pre-wax numbing cream applied to the area, the cost is $92.

I am very interested in getting laser hair removal, but have a few questions. I am looking to do Completely Bare on the bikini, and possibly the buttocks. I always wax, and I just want to know if I will still be able to wax between sessions or just refrain from waxing right before the session. I wanted to know if that would reduce the effectiveness, because I really don’t want to go back to shaving until the sessions are done. Also, I need prices for both areas, both in package form and single session. Would I be able to schedule an appointment without a consult, or can I have a consult followed by a treatment? I will be coming from out of town, and I want to get treatments started as soon as possible. Thanks- – Elise

Hi Elise,

Great question!  I know how annoying it is to shave, but once you start your laser treatments, it is very important to refrain from waxing or tweezing.  For the most effective permanent hair removal the hair needs to be treated in the active growth stage, which typically happens every 4-6 weeks.  If you wax between treatments, this interrupts the growth cycle, hindering and extending the permanent hair removal process. Keep in mind, as loathsome as shaving is, after a few months you’ll never have worry about hair removal again!  The cost of the Completely Bare bikini package is $2125 (actually the cost of 5 sessions and we give you the 6th free!).  The single session cost is $425.  For the inner-bum, the package price is $1100 (again, the cost of 5 with the 6th free).  For a single session it’s $220.  Keep in mind, everyone will need a minimum of 6 treatments.   You will also need a hair removal or spa consultation, which are complimentary, and you can definitely do your first treatment the same day.

Hi Raquel,

The completely bare with a flair wax is $110.  With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, it’s a great little surprise for that special someone.  The crystals last about a week and come in a variety of designs.  You can also design your own “flair”, and surprise your honey with his own initials on your bikini line.  Trust me, it’ll be his most memorable Valentine’s Day ever!

How long should bikini area hair be before it can be waxed? Thanks, Sarah

Hi Sara,

Thanks for writing to completely bare!  Before getting bikini hair waxed, hair should be about 1/4 of an inch long.  This will ensure  that the wax will stick to all the hairs, and you’ll get a smooth, even wax.  I would also suggest laser hair removal.  Why continue to wax when you can be completely smooth forever?   It’s one of the greatest thing I’ve ever done.  Imagine never having to shave or wax again!  I would love for you to come into any of our spa locations for a FREE complimentary spa consultation and test-patch.  Have a great day!
