I love the Silk’n Sensepil at home laser like hair removal device. I know they are being featured on the QVC on March 13th at 2pm and I love it because it doesn’t hurt like waxing does and it won’t cost me a fortune. PLUS the best part is I can use it at home and don’t have to go to a spa for it.
I have used the Silk’n Sensepil and highly recommend it to anyone looking for permanent hair removal.

As a sissy man, I can not live w/out hair removal. It is pricey but well worth it.

I’m trying to imagine (and not laugh out loud – ha!) right now how many at-home hair removal “oops!” like these occurred last weekend during Valentine’s Day. Ladies and gentlemen, I’m not going to lie when I say that at-home hair removal can be quite easy but let’s make sure we’re not pulling strips off in heart’s like this – ugh!

Love Gone Wrong

Here are some main tips to use when waxing at home, if you are desperate and HAVE to!

- Make sure you have all the necessities such as baby powder, tongue depressors, hard wax, strip wax, pre-cut waxing strips

- Make sure skin is exfoliated so that all hairs are totally accessible to the wax

- Be sure the area is completely dry – shake some baby powder on the area to dry up any anxiety sweat that may be there

- Check that the wax is at a honey-like consistency, if it is too thin it is too hot and vice verse if it is too thick

- Next take the tongue depressors and dip into the wax and glide this in the direction of hair growth

- Then take the strip and apply firmly and tear off quickly in the opposite way of the hair growth – the same goes for the hard wax pull off once it hardens on the area in the same direction

- Lastly, this is optional but may help, you can soothe the area with a towel dipped in milk and toss in the freezer. The cold will help soothe and chill the area from inflammation.

GOOD LUCK!

You discuss with your best friends about the most intimate details of your life: relationships, men, sex, grooming. However, it takes the anonymity of a seasoned specialist to make you feel truly safe enough to ask the most personal and seemingly embarrassing questions.

One common question that most women are afraid to ask is “hair or no hair”? Should I take everything off? Should I leave some hair? How much hair is too much hair? The answer is always what makes you feel the
most comfortable and what makes you feel great. For most women, the most popular bikini shape is what they call a Brazilian bikini. This shape leaves what is now infamously called the landing strip…a narrow, rectangular section of hair located right above the labia. The landing strip can be as thin or as thick as you would like. The average size is about the width of two index fingers. If a landing strip is too risqué for you, there are other options to try! Many women prefer a triangle or even a square depending on their body type.

Then you have your creative types. I’m talking lightening bolts, hearts, even initials. Then you have the women who want to 86 their hair altogether going completely bare.

With all the choices out there, how does one decide? My advice is simple: try the newest and the latest but keep in mind what looks best on you. Unlike your Hanky Panky’s, bikini shapes are not one-size-fits-all. At completely bare spa, our spa specialists will work with a client to achieve the most flattering shape.

If you cannot get to a completely bare spa, here are some tips: If you’re curvy, a triangle with soft edges will give the appearance of a slender silhouette. If you have narrow hips, an inverted triangle will give the illusion of feminine curves. Last, but definitely not least, have your specialist evenly trim your shape to the desired length.

And remember ladies, if at first you don’t succeed, try and try again. How many times do you change your hairstyle before you find the right one? Exactly.

  1. Hello,
I have a question… is it possible to have too much hair “down there” that one cannot get a bikini wax?

    Thanks,

Hey, here’s a question from one our Facebook fans that pops up a lot, so wanted to blog about it:

Good morning Cindy, I have a couple of questions… Does laser hair removal work on all skin and hair types? I am an African American female tired of getting ingrown hair and it doesn’t mater what type of hair removal I use. Will this system remove the hair permanently? Also I heard that with darker skin you have to be much more careful. Thanks Dawn.

Hi Dawn, thanks for reaching out. Hair removal works on all skin types, except for when the hair is lighter than the skin tone. If you are African American you need to go to a hair removal specialist for darker skin to ensure that they are using a specific machine and parameters. The specialist should depict darker skin as a 5 or 6 on the Fitzpatrick skin scale. Have them do a test patch to make sure you don’t have any contraindications. Before you do this, make sure you’re not tanned, you don’t have any oil or moisture on your skin and you are not taking any light sensitive medications. Also, just so you know, darker skin will need more treatments than the standard 6 treatments for lighter skin. You would need 10-12 depending on the area. As for the problem with ingrown hair, laser hair removal is the only method that solves this problem.

At CB we have hair removal specialists that safely and effectively treat all skin types including skin type 5 and 6.

Now here’s a hairy situation that my lifelong friend and I experienced while on vacation last year . Since I wasn’t blogging last holiday season  I wasn’t able to discuss this awkward encounter.

We decided to plan a tropical getaway on the spur of the moment…nothing but sand, water, Ray-Bans and itsy-bitsy bikinis.  Ok, so you’re immediately thinking that this story is headed “south” but you’re WRONG! See below…

It’s our second night out and we’re having an amazing dinner when two men approached us to join. To make a long story short, the one “gentleman” told my friend mid-conversation, “I love women with dark and hairy arms like yours.”

(Let’s just skip over the motivation behind that comment. . .)

My friend immediately burst in to tears, since she’s always had a complex about the hair on her arms.  When we got back to the room, I consoled her and then conveniently tossed her my hair inhibitor to reduce the growth and the length of the hair.

From my own personal experience and from seeing so many women with the same hairy situations, I know firsthand that there usually is a way to help reduce and remove hair and FINALLY FEEL CONFIDENT!

What’s your hairiest situation??
