I don’t know how you feel about July 29th but I’m counting down the MINUTES!!! JERSEY SHORE RETURNS for season TWO down in MIA!!! FIST PUMP!!

While watching the 13-minute preview last night for the new season Miss Snookie was complaining about the 10% tax on tanning which she claimed the president did on purpose because of tanorexics like herself! Ha! NO MORE TANNING BEDS FOR HER!!!

What is the next best option?? Snookie has the “love of her life” spray tan her at-home. I must admit she looks WAY better with a DIY spray tan versus the tanning bed, plus she won’t have to worry about wrinkles or cancer!!!

So ladies…here is the best way to spray tan (like Snooks) at home with TIPS from Cindy Barshop for the ultimate summer glow!
- Before tanning make sure that you are fully exfoliated and shaven on all the areas that you are applying self-tanner
- Make sure that the skin is 100% dry – use a blow dryer if needed – if the area is not dry this can lead to streaking
- Evenly apply a gradual self-tanner to one area at a time (you can apply again later in the day for a more immediate result)
- Be careful around thinner areas of the skin such as the elbows, ankles and knees – use a minimal amount of tanner as the lotion might stain
- After application, use the cool setting on a hair dryer to ensure that you are COMPLETELY dry, otherwise the tan will rub off
- Lastly, make sure that you are not self-tanning immediately before going out, this can lead to staining clothes
- If you end up getting streaking or staining gently exfoliate the skin or use lemon juice as a remover

Ladies, this is sad to say, but take some advice from Snookie – STEAR CLEAR OF THE TANNING BEDS…(and ALWAYS wear sunblock!)

So yes…I know how to walk and talk at the same time, but didn’t prove it too well when I was walking in sky-high stilettos and my new Proenza Schouler miniskirt. BOOM! Missed a step – OOPS!! Talk about leaving me MORTIFIED with a sliding-into-home-base-BRUISE!! Luckily enough it’s been chilly and I’ve been hiding my bruise with leggings, stockings, jeans, you name it…but this weekend is D-Day…AHHH!!!…seeing the EX at an ENGAGEMENT party… on the beach… and warm temps are on the radar.  First thought: I HAVE to look AMAZING—what do I wear? Second thought: WHAT AM I GOING TO DO WITH THIS BRUISE?!? PINK DIAMOND SPRAY TAN instantly came to mind. Besides the fact that I would be wearing several carats of pink diamonds on my body, not ring finger —because remember ladies I’m NOT the one engaged—but I would be able to camouflage the bruises.

While dressing for a recent (rare) night out since the birth of my twins, I noticed that bruises seemed to covered my legs.  I’ve always been a bit clumsy,  but the lack of sleep seems to have made it worse (I swear that chair gets in my way on purpose).  Even though the spray tan I got in order to fake long, leisurely days in the sun looked amazing, my legs still looked like I was wearing polka dot leggings. Not to mention that after being pregnant, my legs are my thinnest feature and therefore needed to look perfect.

I tried our 24 carat gold spray, and loved the way it shimmered on my shoulders, but it didn’t quite cover my legs. Then it hit me: what’s better than gold?   In comes the completely bare Pink Diamond Spray Tan.  It is seriously like night and day.  First, you’re sprayed with our sculpted tan solution (usually the night before your big event) then, the next day you come back and we spray you with a half carat to a carat of pink diamonds in customized areas, selected to compliment your best features and your outfit.  It makes your skin look PERFECT.  You glow and shine in all the right places, covering every imperfection.  Wearing those amazing high waisted short shorts? The darker shade is sprayed on your legs, and the lighter one down the center, making your legs looks miles long.

But wait, let me back up – a CARAT of DIAMONDS!   It’s the ultimate in luxury services and to be honest, nothing will make you feel better or more confident that being literally draped in diamonds.   O.K. maybe not draped, more like covered…in amazing-ness.

Yep, it’s definitely getting warmer – summer is on its way, and it means we are starting to peel off the winter layers and show some skin! I mean, not just looking fit, but hairless and well…a little tanned.

But don’t overdo it with the self-tanner; no one likes an Oompa Loompa. A natural, healthy glow is always sexy. All will wonder if you’ve spent the weekend in St. Barth’s. Or maybe Palm Beach. But achieving that sun-kissed look can be a bit tricky. Don’t fret, as always, cb is here to the rescue. Here are some tips for BEFORE you apply your first application of self-tanner for the season:

• Prepare your skin by exfoliating every morning in the shower a few days before you apply self-tanner
• Use a moisturizer liberally for a few days before you are going to use your self-tanner, but not immediately before you apply the self- tanner as it will interfere with the self-tanner’s absorption
• Shaving also exfoliates, so it’s OK to shave a day ahead of time too. And wait at least a full day before de-fuzzing again; doing so sooner will shorten the life of your tan. (The same goes for waxing: give yourself at least a day or two before–and after–your self-tanning application.)
• Beware of the super dark ankles, elbows syndrome. Self-tanners are absorbed more by drier skin. So again, be sure to exfoliate these areas really well and use a rich moisturizer regularly. When applying the tanner, you’ll get the most natural look if you dilute the self-tanner with an equal amount of moisturizer before applying it to your feet, ankles, elbows and knees, as well as to the inside of your arms and under your chin
• Don’t forget to blend self-tanner down your neck and your whole decolletage
• Sunless tanners usually take about 3 hours before you will see the results develop on your skin
• Check the color of the self tanner in natural, real light, not in your fake bath room light! Put your hands out the window, or go outside to make sure the color is good
• Use lemon juice to wash your hands, between your fingers and your nails
• Allow the sunless tanner to dry for at least 15-30 minutes, or if you’re in a rush use a cold blow dryer on your body, before you put on your clothes, otherwise it will stain your clothes and make your tan uneven

And don’t forget that self-tanner is not a sun protection. So be careful, don’t stay in the sun, you will still get burned.

We’ll have more tips coming up for the best summer look…

Every year more than one million people are diagnosed with skin cancer in the United States. Despite this fact, hundreds of thousands of people routinely visit tanning salons.

So speaking as a previous TANOREXIC – (years ago ladies, YEARS!!!) I understand how OCD one can become about being tanned like George Hamilton, okay not that tan, but you know what I mean. I always knew it was going to age and wrinkle me, give me sun spots and potentially cancer, but for some reason it didn’t stop me (I was definitely a part of the above ratio).

I know, I know…I was a beauty editors nightmare, but then I wised up and started appreciating my pasty white skin and enhanced it with a nice spray tan or at-home self tanner. Don’t be afraid because some self tanners like completely bare’s Model Tan are FOOL PROOF! And ladies….always wear SPF 30 or higher!

So anyways….now we have mass-panic from all those fake-n-bakers nationwide complaining about the latest 10% tax tan on tanning. Its 10% which is near NOTHING on a $15/20 tanning session that will leave you looking like a piece of leather.

I am by no means finger pointing, but fake and bake with FAKE tan in a bottle, not in a rotisserie.

  1. Your site is so cool! I’m glad people will have to pay more taxes to tan. Using tanning beds is so foolish.
